Jewish composer Ernest Bloch was born in Switzerland in 1880, but later settled in Agate Beach, Oregon in 1941, where he remained until his death in 1959. His major classical works include "Schelomo--A Hebrew Rhapsody" and "Voice in the Wilderness" for cello and orchestra, the opera "Macbeth," and several other string quartets, concertos, and sonatas.
