January 26, 2007, Newsletter Issue #95: Oregon Recycling

Tip of the Week

The 2.8 million residents of Oregon generate more than 5,480 tons of garbage each day; enough to cover one acre of land, eight feet deep. To reduce the amount of landfill needed, almost all city waste-hauling companies offer curbside recycling services for an assortment of materials including aluminum, corrugated cardboard boxes, dry cell batteries, glass jars and bottles, newspaper, plastic containers, tin cans, used motor oil, waste paper, and yard waste.
