KGWChannel 8 began in 1956, and was originally owned and operated by King Broadcasting in Seattle. The station became an NBC affiliate in 1960 and is now known as Northwest NewsChannel 8. KGW currently boasts having Portlandīs top-rated newscasts in the morning, at 5, 6, 6:30 and 11 (market #23).
