Channel 8 began in 1956, and was originally owned and operated by King Broadcasting in Seattle. The station became an NBC affiliate in 1960 and is now known as Northwest NewsChannel 8. KGW currently boasts having Portland's top-rated newscasts in the morning, at 5, 6, 6:30 and 11 (market #23).

KOIN first opened its doors in 1925 when it became one of the pioneer stations of the Pacific Northwest. Then, by 1930, KOIN joined the CBS affiliates. This "News at the Speed of Life" channel continues to offer complete news, weather, sports and entertainment for Oregonians.
